Half shadow Kylil

Kyl'il, freed from the control of The Warlord but still engulfed in shadow.

History[]

Kyl'il emerged from the meteor that lies at the center of the Meteor Island, though the nature of that event is unknown other than the fact it in part led to the destruction of the dinosaurs. Chunks of this meteor are used to reform her wisp every time she reincarnates, with her body being physically composed of the meteor. Throughout history, some people have taken parts of the meteor for themselves, forging it into crowns only to eventually be driven mad by the innate properties of the meteorite. Curiously, though she knows this information about the meteor as well as how to navigate the island, she seems to know very little about the nature of the meteor itself, both why it arrived and the nature of all of its various influences over the island where it resides, as seen in Dark Vision.

Kyl'il has gone 3000 years without reincarnating, due to the constant conflicts and warfare that plague her home giving her no opportunity to do so. She has been in charge of the Prison of Lights likely since its creation, creating and sustaining the many flames that are scattered throughout it, the only barrier between the outside world and the horrible creatures within.

At some point before the Nine Shrines Team's return to The Shrouded Isles, following certain unexplained events, Kyl'il would write a letter prohibiting all residents from entering the Prison of Lights, the situation having grown even worse than before. In the Where All Light Fades arc, an image of her was seen in the shadows, lurking around as the team investigated. When she finally was seen in full, it became clear that something had happened to her, and she was no longer truly herself, the light replaced with horrific shadow. Whatever Spiritfolk essence she once had, along with her spirit and mind, had somehow been removed from her body, leaving this shadowy malevolent husk. While the full details of what transpired are yet unknown, it appears that she had somehow fallen under control of the terrifying Warlord, who was puppeteering her body with one of its long shadowy tentacles. Once freed of its grasp with help from the Nine Shrines team, she was able to reignite her flame, her conscious and powers restored. With her powers returning, the team was able to destroy the Warlord permanently. freeing the Isles from its threat, and with a spark of her flames, Kyl'il welcomed the team back to the isles.

Appearance[]

Kyl'il is tall and slim, with two long, curved maroon horns sprouting from either side of her head, and long flowing black hair. Between them rests a glowing flame, matched by her glowing white eyes. She wears a golden circlet adorning her white flame, as well as a matching choker. She wears a flowing scarlet dress, with golden fabric flowing over her shoulders and thighs, with brown boots and a black miniskirt underneath. In her hand, she carries a tall golden staff also sporting her signature white flame.

Her eyes are apparently a separate device not attached to her body. She primarily sees using the various flaming parts of her wisp scattered throughout the isles for sight, with the glowing eyes being created as a means for her to see first person.

In her form during the Where All Light Fades arc, the flame atop her head and staff had disappeared, and her appearance had changed dramatically. Her eyes were ow pitch black, with dark purple lines coursing through her body. Her horns had grown longer and more twisted. The staff, circlet and choker had all turned into a somber grey while also becoming more jagged in appearance. The golden fabric had turned purple, with some additionally adorning her head. Her dress had also largely turned purple, with some red accents near the midriff. The dark streaks running through her body disappeared once she was freed of the Warlord's capture, and flames returned to her forehead and eyes after the Warlord was defeated. Once her new eyes were constructed in Dark Vision, her glowing eyes and the flame between her crown and staff returned.

Personality[]

Kyl'il is described as serene and calm, even in the most violent of situations. With her millenia of age and, she is also quite wise and knowledgable of the workings of the world, and protective of the Isles she calls home and its residents. She is a leader for the Spiritfolk and a benevolent force, always working to keep others safe with her flames. However, she also seems somewhat socially unaware, dropping fun facts and matter of fact statements even when her and her companions are running from death.

She also hates water.

Abilities[]

She possesses control over fire, and is able to produce flame in all manners of shapes and forms, such as through lanterns, from thin air. Her most common attack is a circular wave of fire that extends out in a circle, rejuvenating the light of allies while burning enemies. These flames, including those scattered throughout the Prison of Lights, are all an extension of her wisp and being. She can see through the lights she creates.
